Beacon Dementia and Wellbeing

Beacon Dementia and Wellbeing support and empower people living with dementia, their Carers and those who may feel lonely or isolated, enabling them to enrich their lives and enhance their wellbeing. We do this through offering opportunities to connect with others and take part in activities, whilst creating a culture where everyone can contribute and is included.

We provide:

A Dementia Carers’ Group - Carers of people living with dementia come together and get some much needed social time, and are able to discuss the issues they are facing with others in a similar situation. This provides peer support and helps them to accept that usually the issues they are facing are similar to those that others are also coping with. Together they share solutions or tips to help each other. This group also runs monthly on Zoom. It is supported by an experienced and Accredited Dementia Coach.

Activities – we provide varied activities for people living with dementia, or anyone who may feel lonely or isolated. All activities are dementia-friendly.

Both of these activities are run at The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery on the third Friday of the month (except August) from 2:30-4pm.

We will shortly be opening a physical Shed facility at The Whitaker which will enable us to deliver a greater range of dementia-friendly activities, such as making, mending and gardening.
